Access Apache Derby through Command Prompt + Linux


1. Take the terminal.

2. Move to the “bin” folder of derby (cd /derby/bin).

3. Type “ij” on the terminal.

4. Connect to the database : command —> connect ‘jdbc:derby:/data_base_path’;

5. Execute sql commands :—> command_string;

=========================OR============================

1. Take the terminal.

2. From the local folder(~):—–> derby/bin/./ij

3. connect ‘jdbc:derby:/data_base_path’;

4. command_string;

Note :-
a) Stop this from the terminal before running the application.

b) Make sure each statement ends with a semicolon.
